Afternoon Dance Breaks are a recurring feature that invites you to get up from the desk, crank up the tunes, and dance your fool head off for a few minutes before resuming the daily grind.

Wikipedia sez:

The History of Hip-Hop dance encompasses the people and events since the late 1960s that have contributed to the development of the early hip-hop dance styles: uprock, breaking, locking, roboting, boogaloo, and popping.

Black and Latino Americans created uprock and breaking in New York City. Black Americans in California created locking, roboting, boogaloo, and popping—collectively referred to as the funk styles.

All of these dance styles are different stylistically. They share common ground in their street origins and in their improvisational nature.

Give a listen to the Pop and Lock Playlist after the jump then get on up and show your moves!

The 2015 Pitchfork Music Festival is now ancient history, so I promise this will be the last playlist to feature musicians from this year’s line-up. It’s just too good not to share, so check out the Pop and Lock Playlist below. If you don’t already have a Spotify account you may be prompted to create one – it’s free.
